Arbor Day in Kindergarten!

Arbor Day is Tree day and all the kindergartners in Douglas county got a Black Hills Spruce Tree to commemorate the day from the Douglas County Conservation District.  They gave the kindergarten teachers a Butterfly Weed to plant this year.  Last year I got a Pasque Flower and it is coming up in my flower garden now.

Earth Day Project

On April 23rd we went to the lake in town to pick up trash and look for signs of spring.  We found a lot of trash and the kids did their part of helping the Earth.  We have been talking about Earth Day for a few days, so they were very excited to do their part!

Everyone was excited to see the Painted Turtles!

They loved the bridge!

"Look Teacher!  I found a dead frog!"

The new fishing dock got a thumbs up from the kids!

Here are the good kids after helping their town!

Working on the Bird Book

We have been working on the backyard bird book that is to be published.  It is a big undertaking, but you will love the finished product that will be online for you to purchase.  Here is a glimpse of one boy working on his amazing Northern Cardinal drawing!  Wow!

A Gift From Guatemala

A big thank you to Urquietas for the cool little bird flower vases!  The kindergartners loved them!

If I Ran the Zoo

I read a Dr. Seuss book titled, "If I Ran the Zoo" about a boy who had his own ideas for running a zoo.  Then I set the kids to work to build a zoo in small groups and then add animals.  Here are the cool zoos!

Leprechauns on the Loose!

Once again the leprechauns messed up our classroom while looking for gold!  They did not find any, but they left notes and the kindergartners were soon on a treasure hunt of their own that sent them through the school following clues!  It was very exciting and at the end, they finally found their own treasure - gold wrapped candy!  It was a fun and silly time for the kids!
"Teacher, what's going on here?"

"The leprechauns are CRAZY!"

"Hey!  I found a green note!"

Everyone was very excited!

Some of the teachers saw strange things too.

Mrs. Allen wants to know how her water turned green!

The last note said that the treasure was hidden
somewhere in the toy area.

This boy has eagle eyes because he
found the treasure too!

The kids sure enjoyed their treasure hunt!

The Last Day of School!

It is hard to believe that it was the last day of school!  The year went so quickly!  I am so proud of the progress that these young chil...
