On Dr. Seuss's birthday, children all across America read lots of books!  We did many reading activities:  making words, rhyming, and reading books.  The kindergartners read books at their level and then made a tally mark on the board.  They read 102 books on this day!  Yay!  We also decorated a headband that reminded everyone to read, made a Cat in the Hat with rhyming words on his hat, watched a short video of the Cat in the Hat and we had cupcakes to mark the day.   The first graders even came in and danced with the kids!  We had such a fun time learning the importance of knowing how to read!

Here they are making headbands.

The Cat in the Hat activity was fun!

He was happy to find a bird in his book!

The kindergartners were surprised at how well they could read!

We took a break and watch the story, "The Cat in the Hat".

Our 1st grade buddies came in to dance with us!

These kids have moves!

BirdTeach brought some yummy cupcakes to celebrate!

Here they are at the end of the day.  Did I wear them out?

AWESOME!
