Halloween Party

The Halloween party was a great time!  The kids played three different games and ate yummy food!  The kindergartners were very well behaved during their first party and I was so proud of them!  We had such a fun day in kindergarten today!  We want to give a VERY big thank you to all involved at making this such a special day!

Game #1  Bowling down toilet paper rolls with a real pumpkin!
Strike!
They had some delicious food at their party!
Game #2  Someone had their back to the group and
they were the ghost.  These kids said,
"Mr. Ghost, Mr. Ghost!  What time is it?"  He would
say a random time like, "5 o'clock!"  Then the kids
would take five steps forward.  This continued
until they got close to the ghost.  Then when they
asked what time it was, he would say, "It's time to eat you!"
Then he/she would turn around and try to tag someone.
Then they were the ghost!
The kids loved this game!
Game # 3 Dance to the music and when it stops,
they would freeze making their scariest monster face!
Then someone would choose who won.

Yikes!

Here are the kindergartners in their costumes!
A bit earlier in the day, we went to the nursing
home to show the residents and trick-or-treat there.
Here they are being a little crazy!
The kids worked up an appetite today!

It was another great day in kindergarten!

Dinosaurs Don't Wear Underpants!

On this Halloween day a dinosaur in underpants came into the classroom to read the book, "Dinosaurs Don't Wear Underpants!"  One kindergartner was so frightened that she ran into the coat area and started crying!  She was terrified until I showed her that it was just our silly librarian!

Pumpkin Carving

A BIG thank you to the Slate family for donating
the pumpkin for this project!  We discuss a lot
of things when I do this lesson:  the life cycle
of a pumpkin, what happens to the seed if you
plant it in the spring, foods made with pumpkin,
how pumpkin pie is made, living things and
non-living things, safety around knives, our five
senses and more!
I love the look on their faces!
The kids really enjoyed this project!
BOO!

Teacher's Birthday!

It has been a tradition for about 25 years to go to
my house for a quick tour, see my animal collection
and have a birthday cookie on my birthday.  Before we
go, I tease them that I sleep in school, use the magic,
toy kitchen to make my food and brush my teeth at the
water fountain.  Ha-ha!  They don't believe me though.
Cupcakes all around for "Teacher's" birthday!
Thank you for bringing those buddy!

Ghost Artwork

Here are some of the cool artwork that we did in kindergarten.  The ghosts are actually their footprints.  The kids loved painting the details onto their picture.  It looks like I forgot to take photos of some of them, so I will add those on later.

Chromebooks All Around

A great day on October 19th when the kindergartners got their very own Chrome Books to use in school.  I never thought I'd see the day that kindergartners would have their own laptop in class!  These young students were very excited and they felt like a big deal!  The programs they'll use will help them with their language and math skills.

Mrs. B. and the 5th graders came in for our first time to
get the kids set up.
The kids listened very carefully.
I love the looks on their faces!  They were so excited!
Smiles all around!
The kindergartners thought these "big kids"
were really smart!

September Journal #2

Homecoming Week

The theme for this year's homecoming was cartoons and the kids were really excited to dress up as the Paw Patrol characters.  I thought they looked really cute!  We were lucky that the rain stopped long enough for the parade to go through.  The kindergartners while hesitant at first, really enjoyed riding on the float!  It was great day!

Here are the "small fry" or kindergarten
representatives for the AHS coronation.
They were chosen by the high school student council.
These two kids did a great job!

The Last Day of School!

It is hard to believe that it was the last day of school!  The year went so quickly!  I am so proud of the progress that these young chil...
